From now, being in possesion of a driving licence is not enough to work in the profession of a vehicles driver on the road, it is now obliged to have initial formation of 280 hours of duration o intensive of 140 hours and a continued formation of 35 hours of duration every five years.

What is CAP?

The acronym CAP corresponds to Professional Aptitud Certificate is valid throughout the European Union country, it credits that the driver has overcome the courses and exams obliged for the obtantion of the initial qualification as a professional driver. It is a certificate that does not have expiry date but its valid date depends that the holder follows, the continual formation that corresponds in the rules deadlines.

Which drivers does it affect?

Those that have to drive company vehicles established in any of the members of the European Union, for those that are obliged to be in possesion the the driving licences of these categories C1, C1+E, C, C+E, D1, D1+E , D or D+E.

When will CAP be demanded?

In relation to the demand of CAP it is necessary to distinguish between initial qualification and the continual formation. The initial qualification will be demanded:

• For all drivers holding licences D1, D1+E, D, D+E issued from the 11 of September 2008.
• For all drivers holding licences C1, C1+E, C, C+E issued from the 11 of September 2009.
